La JJA (Jazz Journalists
Association) ha concedido como cada año, en esta ocasión en su 21ª edición, los
Jazz Journalists Association Jazz
Awards del año 2017. La JJA es una organización americana sin ánimo de lucro
dedicada a promover el mejor uso de los medios de comunicación de todo tipo (nuevos
y viejos, en línea y fuera) para explicar la historia del jazz y para desarrollar
nuevas audiencias de jazz.
Los JJA Jazz Awards,
otorgados anualmente desde el año 1997, son premios por la excelencia en el
periodismo y la musicalidad.

Como se podrá comprobar en el extenso listado que
se acompaña, la JJA se olvida prácticamente por completo del jazz que se hace
fuera de las fronteras de los Estados Unidos, como si el mismo tan solo se
practicara y se llevará a cabo en tierras americanas, una circunstancia que se
produce cada año y que igualmente cada año señalamos. Ya sabemos del afán corporativista
por parte de los críticos norte-americanos por el producto propio y sin lugar a
dudas por el menosprecio para otros músicos de diferentes nacionalidades y que
sin duda alguna no recogen ni plasman la realidad del jazz como un fenómeno global
y mundial.
